Term 1 2018 holidays

April 19, 2018

Thanks to everyone who joined us for our adventures in art & technology! We tried out some new activities both of which were a hit with the students! Our "Hack the room" escape room was loads of fun, with the students enthusiastically taking on the puzzles and activities, learning about code breaking & working as a team along the way. We don't have photos of this one, it needs to remain a mystery!

The chain reaction machines were enthusiastically taken on and some wonderful and crazy machines were built. This was also a great team activity and most of the students were very supportive and encouraging to each other which was nice to see. The students learnt the key skill of not expecting things to work first time round and learning from failing. There were lots of cheers from everyone when things finally worked too.

The students made some thaumatropes to learn about original animation techniques and fun was had with our regular activities of playing around with robots and making games and artwork in Scratch. The students made some very cool fractal digital trees, some augmented reality games and an animation that responded to sound.

Some of the students got to photoshop themselves into their projects and some very inventive game controllers were made with our Makey Makeys and all sorts of things!

The students can access their Scratch projects through this link.
